{"id":525,"date":"2013-06-21T14:52:51","date_gmt":"2013-06-21T14:52:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wormbuilder.org\/old\/?page_id=525"},"modified":"2013-06-21T14:52:51","modified_gmt":"2013-06-21T14:52:51","slug":"about-universal-mossci","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wormbuilder.org\/old\/?page_id=525","title":{"rendered":"About Universal MosSCI"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>About universal MosSCI sites<\/h4>\n<p>The universal MosSCI sites are insertion sites that allow insertion of the same transgene at several well-defined locations in the\u00a0<em>C. elegans<\/em>\u00a0genome.\u00a0The method has the advantages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One targeting vector is compatible with multiple insertion sites<\/li>\n<li>The local genomic environment is the same for all insertions<\/li>\n<li>Insertions can be followed by the adjacent marker (NeoR or GFP signal)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The method works by inserting a transgene into a well-defined landing site at specific locations in the genome. The insertion sites were engineered into the genome and are therefore all identical (except for variations in the co-insertion marker, NeoR or P<em>myo-2<\/em>:GFP:H2B). The insertion sites contain a Mos1 transposon that can be excised.
